Living and dying
Sickness has got it's reason as everything has got it's reason. As the Dalai Lama says, there is
nothing independent. Everything, every phenomenon has got it's reason. Nothing exists in itself, and
nothing shows us inherent essence. The fact that everything looks like being autonomous and overwhelming
is based on interpretation. The interpretation is accompanied by the Ego, the "Me", the "I".
It's "Me", who lives (and "me", who will die, although this idea already is abstract),
and this "Me", "I" looks like factible and permanent. But it's a construct, born
out of necessitiy to define a minimum of identity in order to conquer our existence within human society.
Sickness is a phenomenon within human society, as the faces of death are faces of media images. Sickness
is a concept. Illness is different. Illness is within us and must not necessarily be interpreted. Even
death must not be interpreted. We can die without any anticipation; during sleep, for instance. Fear
too, at primar hand, is a concept, a concept of language, and language is the mirror of human society,
of local reality. So, what I'm trying to underline is one of the shamanistic insights: "We don't
explore the world directly. There is always the description of the world first. Precisely we are always
a step far from the world, and our experience always is remembering of our experience."
(Juan Matus, The ring of Power, Frankfurt/Main 1976, p.57). So everything is a matter of awareness.
We can be sick without knowing it. And so we live a happy life, unaware of eventual bad in us, - as
we are unaware of all the horror that is happening every second in this world. We are an island, a
small island within an infinite ocean, and we are alone, - almost alone. There is only one testimony,
the testimony of Spirit. Spirit - the fountain of our existence. This is shamanism: Going back.
Remembering everything. Clean everything. Becoming pure soul again, innocent, capable of surpassing
the boundaries.
The illness has got it's reason and reviewing all the reasons, in all depths, brings us to new innocence.
This is healing.
Healing is speaking to the plants like an animal. Healing is eating plants. Healing is praying. Healing is
being a child again in the hands of God. Healing is offswearing fatal behaviour, healing is acknowledging
our sins, as Christianism calls it. There is no sorcery. We are the masters of our life, not the bad
neighbour.
Sickness is a period within a lifetime. Lack of balance.
So, how we can find balance again?
When somebody wants to come to Otorongo, he first needs a little timeout. The one who wants to surrender
his life to the Spirit, needs time and dedication. He has to say "Yes!". Then the work will start,
every day, every hour, every second. Our life is unique, precious and unrepeatable. The dialogue with
the Spirit starts. To become a humble human is a walk through valleys of suffering and pain. It's
walking through the fire of cleansing, every moment, and then, one day, comes the moment of truth.
Illumination. Illumination in the deep of the night. Illumination in the still of the night. It's
seeing the shamans world. The world in itself. Crossing the boundaries and finding our deliberation,
our, as Don Juan called it, finding the "bird of freedom", to whom we will follow the rest of our time.
The Holy Spirit, a dove.
